Saraki as Senate President slowed down governance

Saraki as Senate President slowed down governance  — Lai Mohammed   Speaking after the regular Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting, Alhaji Mohammed said: “If Senate President Bukola Saraki were not a member of the APC, the party and the government it leads could not have suffered more than they had already done, with regards to the delay in passing the budget, approving key appointments and so on. “In other words, Saraki has behaved all along as a member of the opposition, deliberately slowing down the progress of the APC-led Federal Government. “It is therefore neither a surprise nor a blow that he has defected. “Perhaps the only surprise is that when he eventually defected, it was a mere whimper. If we didn’t gain by having our member as Senate President, we stand to lose nothing by losing him. ” On the effect on Kwara politics, he said: “Realising this, the true APC members in the state have come together to strengthen the party, open its doors to new m...

Nigeria Soldiers Ranging War Against IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has claimed that Nigerian soldiers informed all Hausa-Fulanis residing in Umuahia to relocate ahead of their plan to “decimate” the region. In a statement by its spokesperson, the group noted that no Hausa-Fulani can be sighted in Umuahia as they had all exited the city before the soldiers invaded the town. In a statement by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group said, “We were properly informed that the Hausa fulani soldiers have instructed all the Hausa-Fulani living in Biafranland particularly those in Umuahia and its environs to vacate. “Right now, none of the Hausa Fulani could be sighted or seen anywhere around Umuahia. “This show is to prove that the Hausa Fulani soldiers deployed to Biafranland are battle ready to decimate Biafran people in their own land while preventing any reprisal that this evil plot might lead to. “But, we promise them that IPOB under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot resort to armed struggle or afford to stop now t...

Nigeria Army And The IPOB

The Nigerian Army on Sunday said its personnel fired warning shots to disperse hoodlums who lobbed stones and broken bottles against them during a procession in Umuahia, the Abia State capital. The Army was countering the account of Mr. Kanu, which had said soldiers stormed his residence in the Abia State capital, killing and injuring occupants in a bid to attack the separatist activist. “The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army has been drawn to fictitious news going round especially on the social media that troops have invaded the home of Nnamdi Kanu and killed three persons. “This is far from the truth. Rather, it was a group of suspected IPOB militants that blocked the road against troops of 145 Battalion while on show of force along FMC-Word Bank Road in Umuahia town, Abia State at about 6.00-6.30pm, today. They insisted that the military vehicles would not pass and started pelting the soldiers with stones and broken bottles to the point of injuring an innocent female passerby...

Bloody day in Abia State.

ABA —The protest embarked on by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over the prolonged detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, turned bloody in Aba, Abia State, as a combined team of security agents, comprising soldiers and policemen allegedly fired shots at the protesters, killing six members of the group and arresting 20. Also in Enugu, the Police in the state yesterday, arrested 25 members of the IPOB, who had gathered at the Naira Triangle in preparation for a protest march. News gathered that the protesters had, as early as 9am, converged at National High School, along Port Harcourt-Aba road, from where they usually march to other areas of the city when security agents swooped on them. Sources said the IPOB members were in prayer session when the soldiers and their police counterparts invaded the area and arrested some leaders of the group. In the confusion, several protesters were injured while 10 were feared dead. Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the casualty fi...

Osinbajo 2019

Image
A group has embarked on a campaign to get Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to run in the 2019 presidential election. The group, “Osinbajo Volunteers”, said its early campaign for the vice president was so as to ensure he became a candidate in the 2019 election. They stated that unlike some other Nigerian leaders who were “clueless” about the nation’s issues, Osinbajo was a “leader who has a clue on what to do and turn Nigeria the beloved to the land of our dreams”. The volunteers called on members of the public to join them in the project of backing the vice president. On their website, activities of the vice president abound.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo called on militants to stop attacking oil pipelines and instead join other stakeholders to fully maximize the oil while it still exists as the global economy was already moving away from oil. Osinbajo asked the people in the Niger Delta region to make good use of the proceeds from oil, saying the product may soon become unprofitable. The vice president made these comments at the 2nd National Council Meeting on the Niger Delta held in Akure, the capital of Ondo State. While noting that Nigeria currently relied on oil for its foreign exchange earnings, Osinbajo observed that as countries around the world moved towards cleaner alternative sources of energy, Nigeria and its Niger Delta region stood at a disadvantage, unless drastic steps were taken to stem the over-dependence on the product.
